Challenge Lineup

Three ways for a family to play FamHack

The public track set is deliberately broad: one flagship build track, one society-led collaboration, and one puzzle-heavy option for families who want a different rhythm.

Flagship Track

Main Track

Build a technology solution around staying connected as life changes. This is the core FamHack brief and the biggest challenge space on the day.

  • Best fit for families who want to design, build, and demo a polished idea.
  • Strong option for teams with a mix of coding, product, and presentation skills.
  • The broadest brief on the page, with room for serious ambition.

Collaboration Track

CompSoc Track

A parallel challenge shaped for people who want a society-flavoured build experience and a slightly different creative brief from the main track.

Puzzle Track

Scavenger Hunt

A clue-and-puzzle route inspired by first-year Informatics. It is ideal for mixed-skill families who want everyone involved without forcing the whole team into a pure coding lane.

How Families Use The Tracks

Split up or go all-in

Some families will commit to a single track. Larger families can split into sub-groups and cover more than one challenge without leaving people idle. The site and the event format are built around that flexibility.

All-in Build

One family, one main-track idea, everyone focused on a single polished demo.

Dual Team

Part of the family builds while another subgroup tackles the scavenger hunt.

Mixed Skills

People contribute through coding, design, clue-solving, presenting, and coordination.
